Hardware Problems Can Slow A PC's Performance
When your computer is having trouble with it's hardware it might have an overall effect by slowing it down and even causing freeze-ups. Your computer's CPU has to instruct any attached hardware what to do, when to do it, etc. This includes monitors, printers, mouse, keyboards etc.
For a printer and PC to work in conjunction, print software and drivers must be loaded onto the computer. If the printer's software causes a problem it may cause problems for the other aspects of the computer.
Recently I came across a good example of this condition. The computer giving trouble was attached to a combination printer, scanner, copier and fax unit. Because of the multiple uses there was a "suite" of drivers loaded onto the computer to make all these separate features functional. And here is the problem… at least sometimes. It will get complicated.
The program software began not operating properly and asking for an update. The update would download but when it attempted to install it would kick-out and say it was unable to. There was also a Windows program update that would not install properly that was actually part of a repair for the print driver from Windows.
When the trouble first appeared the PC could be restarted or the printer turned off and back on and everything would go back to work. But it became harder and harder to get it working like it ought to. The scanner part had totally quit with the pc saying it was not able to find the unit for a scan even though it would still print OK.
After trying updates from the printer company's internet site for a fix and from Windows without success we moved on to the last choice. We completely un-installed (using the Windows utility in Tools) and then re-installed the printer program software from the CD that came with it when it was new. But don't forget to remove all sections of the printer suite to begin with.
Use this easy next step and do not throw away any more time or money. Go to the Good Registry Cleaner info blog site. There is a great deal of helpful information on – slow computer startup – at the help site.
